We are all children of Hiroshima
an installation by J. Patrick Doyle
at Free Columbia Space on Main, 84 Main Street, Philmont NY
71 mini shrines, a conceptual installation and performances. A conceptional meditation of “memories “ of the instantaneous destruction the atomic bomb. We all carry this as Humans. The essence and thoughts of destruction … yet we have the possibility, through creative thought, to create a substance of a healing nature … a substance that is contrary to ultimate destruction.
We appeal to those 140,000 human beings who perished on August 6 , 1945 to help us remember.

Humanity must begin to remember . We are all children of Hiroshima . The world changed on August 6 and 9 , 1945 . The ability of humanity for ultimate destruction is a thought that has become an object . We are surrounded with themes of destruction and the end of times . We have in the deed 71 years ago created a thought object that has expanded and morphed into a thought of self destruction .
The ultimate counter substance to this thought is the force of remembering ..to become aware and awake and to ask the question : Where do we come from before we are born ? We must attempt to remember …or we are doomed to obsess where we will go after we die . The thought object in the warp and weft of time suspended in the depths of our essential self . We must remember …..
Humanity has to shift …we need to recognize thoughts as real objects … the heart thought of our flight through time ….
71 mini shrines are suspended above an image of the blast footprint that occured in Hiroshima . Folk art handcrafted materials made of antique Kimono remnants from Japan, yew branches, bald cypress and cedar limbs … The conceptual titles compile a word map of impressions that I will have contemplated of each piece of fabric and shrine. A meditation of my own “memories “ of the destruction . We all carry this as Humans . The essence of the thoughts of destruction … yet we have the possibility through creative thought to create a substance of a healing nature … a substance that is contrary to ultimate destruction..
